About MeHi! I'm Ali (she/her/hers) and I'm an EESE major (Integrated Elementary and Special Education major) at Towson University.
I have wanted to be an elementary school teacher since first grade because of the wonderful first grade teacher I had, Ms. Comer. Ms. Comer was the first consistently supportive adult in my life and truly showed me my potential. She always made a point to tell me that I was an excellent student and that I made her proud. Ms. Comer nurtured my love for learning and always encouraged me to challenge myself. Additionally, as the daughter of a single father, my hair was not always the neatest, and she would take the time to do my hair every single morning. She always made me feel ready to take on the day. I knew that I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. When teaching I believe it is essential to teach the whole person. I strongly value my relationship to students and pride myself on building personal connections with my students. I want my students to know that they are fully loved and supported when they enter my classroom each day; I believe that they learn best when they feel this way. In my opinion, the most important thing I can teach my students is the ability to recognize, feel, and regulate their emotions. I find this skill essential to becoming a successful, adaptable person. |
